Aquionix, Inc. is a full-service environmental, health and safety consulting and field services company that provides client-focused solutions to meet compliance and regulatory obligations. Our mission is to provide quality services in a professional manner to produce results you can trust. Aquionix, Inc. was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1998 and has grown to provide services throughout the United States through our three office locations in Lakewood, Colorado, Phoenix, Arizona, and Bozeman, Montana.

Our staff is comprised of multi-disciplinary experts ranging from highly degreed and certified individuals to skilled and dedicated support personnel allowing for cost-effective full service project management. Our professionals are trained and experienced in regulatory review, interpretation and applicability determinations, air dispersion modeling and permitting, health and safety program development and implementation including training, and environmental program development, implementation and sampling.

Our staff carry and maintain a multitude of qualifications to meet the needs of our clients. Every individual is encouraged to pursue certifications, degrees or licenses that will support client needs, but that will ultimately result in individual professional growth and development.

Thurman Cardwell

Founder


Thurman founded the company in 1998 with a B.S. in Chemistry from Texas A&M and focus on water quality including wastewater, drinking water, permitting, field services, statistical analysis, and consulting in the Colorado area. Since those early days, he has expanded his knowledge to include SPCC, stormwater, reclamation permitting, hydrogeology, hazardous waste, compliance and management system (ISO) auditing, management system implementation (ISO), health and safety, and project management. When away from the office, Thurman can usually be found fly fishing, hiking with his dogs, skiing, playing hockey, and cooking.

Jacki Malone

CEO


Jacki transitioned to Aquionix in 2011 with 10 years of field, engineering and remediation system design experience in her pocket. With an Environmental Engineering degree from Colorado State University, Jacki has pursued her Professional Engineering license in several states. Jacki enjoys figuring out the complexities of the regulatory environment and applies her broad knowledge of engineering principles and regulatory understanding to support her clients with regulatory compliance and reporting across a variety of industries. Outside of the office, Jacki relishes time with her young family, enjoys traveling and playing tennis, pickleball and golf.

Jonathan Ooms

Director of Operations


Jonathan received a B.S. in Geology from University of California Santa Cruz and began his career at the USGS Hazards Center in Golden, CO maintaining and deploying seismic monitoring stations. Since joining Aquionix as a sampling technician in 2017, Jonathan has moved into various other fields including hazardous waste, health and safety, drinking water, and NPDES and pretreatment permit compliance consulting. On the weekends Jonathan spends his time mountain biking and rafting the mountains and rivers in Colorado and Utah.


Dave graduated from University of Colorado at Denver with a B.S. in Business Administration. As the Finance and Business Manager, Dave handles all things financially and a lot that’s not. Dave loves being in the office and interacting with everyone. In his free time, he loves bowling and has even bowled a perfect 300 game! He also enjoys watching most sports.

Lisa Hennessy

Director


Lisa graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Geo-Environmental Engineering and obtained her P.E in Civil Engineering. Throughout her career, Lisa has worked on a variety of projects that include wastewater treatment plant redesigns, groundwater remediation, air and groundwater modeling, and environmental compliance. Since joining Aquionix she has used her experience to primarily assist on air quality compliance but is willing to use her experience for other projects as needed. In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time outdoors running, bird watching and riding her bike.

Melissa Taras

Senior Project Manager

Melissa began working at Aquionix following graduation from Montana Tech with a BS in environmental engineering. Melissa focuses on water management and compliance, including stormwater permitting, oil pollution prevention regulation compliance, and drinking water management, as well as development, implementation and online deployment of environmental obligations registers (EORs). Melissa also has significant experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD map development. She is a Senior Project Manager based out Aquionix’s Arizona office and spends time with her daughter and husband hiking, swimming and enjoying the sunshine!

Alyssa Hintz

Project Manager


Alyssa received her BS in Geosciences from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She began her career working in the field at upstream/midstream oil and gas locations performing SPCC, Stormwater, and LDAR inspections. While at Aquionix, Alyssa has worked on a variety of projects, including air permitting, CO Reg 7 reporting, stormwater compliance, and wastewater compliance, as well as some GIS mapping. When Alyssa isn’t working, she enjoys fishing, camping, paddle boarding, skiing, baking, quilting and hanging out with her chickens.   


Keelan Roalson

Project Manager


Keelan received his BS is Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado – Boulder. He has obtained his Engineer in Training certification and is currently pursuing his Professional Engineer certification. While at Aquionix, Keelan is responsible for air compliance permitting, remediation projects, and technical evaluations for a variety of industrial processes and equipment. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, rec league sports, and taking apart anything in his house and attempting to put it back together.

Faith Kelly

Senior Environmental Professional


Faith has extensive experience with industrial pretreatment permit assistance and helping clients reach their compliance goals. Since joining the Aquionix team, she has assisted with other compliance projects relating to stormwater, drinking water, hazardous waste, and more. Faith currently manages the POTW (Publicly Owned Treatment Works) Team and mentors junior staff at Aquionix. In her free time, Faith enjoys rock climbing, backpacking, and tending to her houseplants.

Dan Bocchino

Senior Environmental Professional


Growing up in New England, Dan became interested in water management after being affected by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. After graduating from UConn with a B.S. in Environmental Science, Dan’s passion for water quality led him to gain extensive experience in water quality monitoring and field sampling. As Aquionix’s Field Services Manager, Dan is responsible for leading sampling for groundwater, surface water, drinking water, and wastewater projects. Dan’s journey into the environmental world was also fueled by a love for the outdoors – whether it is trail running, climbing, biking, or snowboarding.

Jessica Bird

Business Administration Assistant


Jessica joined Aquionix with a considerable amount of administrative support skills ranging from accounting to office management. Durning her time with Aquionix she has excelled in invoicing, particularly with improving the process with our Field Services team to accurately bill clients in a timely manner. Jessica also supports the Aquionix team with a diverse amount of project deliverables. Jessica loves to hand-letter/calligraphy, craft and spending time with her family when she is out of the office.

Gabby Sullivan

Senior Environmental Professional


Gabby graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Environmental Science with a Minor in Sustainability and Certificate in Geographic Information Systems. At Aquionix, Gabby works out of North Carolina and supports clients in achieving and maintaining environmental compliance with water quality, hazardous waste, and health and safety regulations. Outside of work Gabby loves yoga, surfing, and being at the beach with her dogs!

Zach Bimonte

Senior Environmental Professional


Zach began his career in the hazardous waste industry, assisting a variety of manufacturing clients with categorizing and properly disposing of hazardous waste in compliance with federal and state regulations. Since joining Aquionix in 2023, Zach has continued to assist clients with hazardous waste programs as well as supporting ISO audit, air compliance regulation, and Energize Denver projects. In his free time, Zach enjoys playing tabletop and video games with friends, cooking, and taking walks with his two dogs.

Jason graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Environmental Management and has spent his career working to help his clients achieve and maintain compliance with various environmental regulations regarding air, water, waste and hazardous materials. Jason loves to spend his free time relaxing with his family or spending time outside skiing or playing volleyball.

Caleb Miller

Senior Environmental Professional


Caleb began his career working on a large-scale remediation project in Los Angeles California after earning is BS in Geology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. At Aquionix, he has contributed to the air team’s Oil and Gas compliance efforts and currently manages the company’s stormwater compliance assistance program. Outside of work, Caleb enjoys spending quality time with his wife and daughter, as well as reading whenever he finds a spare moment.

Kalley Matzen

Environmental Professional


Kalley graduated from the University of Iowa and the University of Colorado with her BSE and MSE, respectively, in Environmental Engineering. While enrolled she supported several water quality research projects largely impacting low-income communities. At Aquionix, Kalley helps ensure environmental compliance for various clients and supports wastewater sampling projects. Outside of work Kalley enjoys all things that get her into the mountains, mainly climbing, trail running, biking, and camping.

Emily Jenkins

Environmental Professional


Prior to joining Aquionix, Emily worked in Internal Regulatory Compliance assisting companies across multiple manufacturing sectors with compliance in the EU. She has brought that legal and regulatory expertise to her role here as part of the Aquionix Air Consulting team, working with clients to ensure environmental compliance. Additionally, Emily assists with stormwater sampling and hazardous waste management. Her passion for the environment extends outside of the office. In her free time, she enjoys skiing in the Rocky Mountains, reading with her cat, and traveling as much as possible.

Jack Smithe

Environmental Professional


Jack received his BS in Environmental Science from the University of Denver. Since joining Aquionix last November, Jack has worked on various wastewater, groundwater and drinking water projects across the Denver metro area to help clients fulfill their permitted monitoring and sampling requirements. Outside of work, Jack loves to ski, hike, play basketball and read about climate change and astronomy.

Samuel McDaniel

Environmental Professional


Samuel obtained a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Louisiana Tech University. Working with the field services team at Aquionix, Samuel upholds the clean water act by ensuring groundwater, surface water, wastewater, and drinking water are within in compliance. Samuel enjoys appreciating nature through hunting and fishing on Colorado public lands.

Samuel Cummings

Environmental Professional


Sam began his career working in alternative waste solutions, bringing composting to residents of Fort Collins. After graduating from Colorado State University with a BS in Chemical and Biological Engineering, he joined Aquionix’s POTW team, where he can continue pursuing his passion for sustainable waste management. He helps clients maintain compliance with their wastewater permits by fulfilling their sampling requirements, preparing reporting documents, and classifying hazardous waste streams. In his free time, Sam enjoys painting, climbing, hiking, and cooking.  

Abigayle Becker

Environmental Professional


Abigayle got her BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder and was involved in a research lab for lithium battery films. While at Aquionix, Abigayle has worked on air quality projects, including permitting, emissions inventory, and monitoring; as well as sampling upstream water that is routed to wastewater facilities. In Abigayle’s free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, mountain biking, climbing, and anything else outdoors.  

Luis Munoz

Environmental Professional


Luis obtained his BS in Environmental Engineering from CU Boulder (Sko Buffs!!). He has a rounded background that includes work and research in energy engineering, renewable energy, water sustainability, and contaminant fate/transport. At Aquionix, Luis works on the Air Team, supporting regulatory and compliance efforts, also working on projects in groundwater remediation and POTW sampling. Outside of work Luis enjoys skate/snowboarding, photography, guitar, music, climbing, and generally chilling outside.

Anica Pinto

Environmental Professional


Anica received her BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder. While completing her undergraduate degree, Anica specialized in environmental policy and worked as an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. Since joining Aquionix, Anica has helped clients will various compliance-based projects involving air quality permitting and calculations, hazardous waste management, and environmental remediation. Outside of work, Anica enjoys skiing, hiking, and baking.

Connor Wojcik

Environmental Professional


Connor graduated from Colorado State University with his BS in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability. Connor is a part of Aquionix’s POTW team and has worked on a variety of projects including wastewater sampling, surface water sampling, stormwater sampling and inspections, hazardous waste sampling and has refined his knowledge in environmental compliance while working closely with clients. In his free time, Connor loves to travel, play volleyball, learn more about sustainable practices and take mountain trips with his friends.

Patty Jones

Environmental Professional


Patricia received her BS in Environmental Science from Seattle University. As a member of Aquionix’s POTW team, she helps clients maintain compliance with their discharge permits through a variety of surface water, groundwater, and wastewater sampling. In her free time, she can be found reading a book, making music, or learning about the connections between the human brain and the environment.

Maddie O’Brien

Environmental Professional


Maddie holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder. As a part of the field services team at Aquionix, Maddie supports groundwater, surface water, wastewater, and drinking water sampling efforts through field sampling and water quality monitoring. In her free time Maddie can be found in the mountains, mountain biking, skiing, or camping with her dog.
